I really need some advice on how to go about tackling an entity relationship diagram. I have to design one based on an application and have to show the cardinality and optionality of each relationship which I identify. I understand what this means and have looked over some examples on this but I am finding it hard to relate what I have got.
Also, what is the standard (if there is one) for representing Application, Business, Interface(s), etc. layers in a diagram?
Entity-Relationship Model E/R Diagrams Weak Entity Sets Converting E/R Diagrams to Relations. 2 Purpose of E/R Model The E/R model allows us to sketch database schema designs. Includes some constraints, but not operations. Designs are pictures called entity-relationship diagrams. Solution of Exercise 1: ER-Diagrams Due: November 5, Ross closing time. Print out this exercise and answer the questions on the printout. For Problem 4 you should attach extra pages, as needed. Remember to register for the course so that your exercise may be graded. Draw an entity relationship diagram to model the information described.
The entities which I have identified so far are: Client, Application, Reports, Interfaces
